I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Andrew Dickson at the New Media Summit event (FYI this was an amazing event – if you are wanting to do anything with podcasting you must attend the next event in Feb in Florida – buy tickets here)
When I heard Andrew talk so passionately about men and moving from nice guy to great guy I knew I wanted to have further conversations with him. We talked about:
- The downside of not upsetting people.
- Black and white v. grey.
- Does new feminism feminize men?
- Is there any value to rough housing?
- If we can’t talk about politics and religion how do we formulate accurate ideas?
- If being nice means not being angry what happens to the anger?
- Can you be happy without getting respect?
Andrew spent most of his life as a people pleasing person and as a result not only denied himself a life that he wanted, he didn’t even know what he wanted. At 36, divorced, in a foreign land and alone he reconnected with God and began the important journey of becoming the man he is today. Today he enjoys being a happy husband and proud father. He coaches Christian nice guys to be accountable to God first and foremost. Only then can God kill off their fearful fake outer nice guy, resurrect their true inner great guy so they can live purposeful, passionate, powerfully productive lives.
Andrew has created a special link just for our listeners. Check it out here!
My challenge to you this week is to explore when you are being nice vs being honest.
