Convert or Converse
When we engage with people we do one of two things. We either listen or we talk.
When we listen we do one of two things
- We put in time until it’s our time to speak or
- We listen trying to really hear what the other person is saying
When we talk we do one of two things
- We tell
- We engage
Depending on which combination we choose we are either trying to convert someone to think like us or converse.
When we convert we disregard the other person’s opinions and experiences.
When we converse we respect the other persons opinions and experiences.
